Services

Sessions that last up to an hour at Physical Therapy at Flagstaff Athletic Club cover a broad range of orthopedic injuries and conditions as well as significant exercise and education programs.

Our services include, but are not limited to, the therapies listed in this section.

Lumbar Stabilization

Low back pain is the single biggest issue that prompts patients to seek physical therapy.

At Physical Therapy at Flagstaff Athletic Club we have had excellent results with lumbar stabilization exercise programs that help you improve your strength, endurance and motor control of the abdominal and lumber trunk musculature.

Dry Needling

This therapeutic treatment procedure involves multiple advances of a thin filament needle (the type used in acupuncture) into the muscle area of the body that is producing the pain and typically contains a trigger point.

It is a highly effective treatment for acute and chronic pain, rehabilitation and pain prevention. It promotes healing and increases your range of motion.

Rotator Cuff Programs

Shoulder injuries and painful and slow to heal, so they can seriously impact your quality of life. The rotator cuff, a group of four muscles that stabilize the shoulder and allow it to move, is a common shoulder injury site, and we have customized exercise to help you recover.

Soft Tissue Massage

Soft tissue massage targets the body’s muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissue such as fascia. It involves direct physical action on the injured area and includes a range of massage depths, pressures and durations.

Our goal is to alleviate your pains and injuries within the body’s soft tissues.

Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic exercise is a key component of any rehabilitation program and should be included as part of your concurrent care. It consists of a variety of exercises including balance, strengthening, range of motion, endurance and plyometric activities.

Our goal is to restore your movement, function, strength, and balance and promote wellness and fitness.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound therapy is the use of sound waves above the range of human hearing to treat injuries like muscle strains and sports injuries like runner’s knee. This therapy is applied using the head of an ultrasound probe that is placed in direct contact with your skin via a transmission coupling gel.

It increases healing rates and tissue relaxation and healing.

Neuromuscular Stimulation

Particularly used in sports medicine, neuromuscular stimulation is effective in selective muscle retraining.

TENS

TENS, which is transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, involves the use of an electrical currently produced by a device to stimulate the nerves for relieve of pain and enhanced healing.

Joint Mobilization

This is a manual therapy intervention that involves a passive movement of a skeletal joint. If normal joint mobility can be restored early in a therapy treatment program, the results are greatly enhanced.

Joint mobilization techniques produce arthrokinematic results, which is the sliding and pivoting movements that normally accompany body motion.
